“Music has given us the opportunity of a universal language—a voice that has inspired hope, nurtured love and given a real and tangible expression to our joys while also encouraging us in times of despair. I cannot think of a better way to honor my family and friends than to give life to new musical works that will enrich the lives of so many, from the Festival’s young musicians to the audiences in North Carolina and around the world.” – Ambassador McElveen-Hunter |

“It is deeply satisfying, as both a conductor and performer, to bring a new piece to life. Especially at a festival devoted to young musicians, I can think of no better way to celebrate the past than by embracing the future and expanding the classical repertoire. I want to thank Barbara Morgenstern for coming on board immediately to sponsor one of the commissions in memory of EMF founder Shelly Morgenstern. We look forward to others joining her.” – Gerard Schwarz |
