Renowned cellist Alisa Weilerstein takes the stage for Shostakovich’s emotionally charged Cello Concerto No. 1, a work of biting intensity and depth. The program concludes with Richard Strauss’s majestic Alpine Symphony, performed in a special reduced brass version, capturing the awe and grandeur of nature’s highest peaks.
