Gerard Schwarz, conductor
Etienne Charles, composer
FSO Concerto Competition winner, piano
Spanish composer Manuel de Falla's celebrated ballet, The Three-Cornered Hat, remains a favorite since its premiere. Gerard Schwarz has crafted an orchestral suite from it, to be performed by the Frost Symphony Orchestra.
In celebration of the Frost School of Music’s centennial, Frost professor Etienne Charles writes a new work for the orchestra. Having recently had one of his compositions premiere at the opening concert of the newly renovated David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, you will not want to miss it! The concert concludes with Gustav Mahler’s "Totenfeier," which later became part of his Second Symphony.
